Sarah Johnson, M.A. is a counselor who is passionate about supporting adults navigating substance use, trauma, co-occurring mental health concerns, life transitions, and involvement within the criminal justice system. She has experience providing care in residential and inpatient treatment settings, helping individuals work through addiction, emotional regulation challenges, and the lasting effects of difficult life experiences. Sarah is especially passionate about helping clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or defined by their past rediscover their strengths and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
Sarah believes healing happens within a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship grounded in authenticity, empathy, and trust. She strives to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, process difficult experiences, build healthier coping strategies, and reconnect with their values and goals.
Sarah’s clinical approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and rooted in evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s unique needs. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients increase self-awareness, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful progress in their healing journey.
Sarah earned her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School and has a professional interest in trauma, substance use treatment, forensic mental health, emotional regulation, and recovery-oriented care. She is currently practicing under supervision as she works toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and is expected to become independently licensed in 2028. Sarah is committed to ongoing professional growth and values continuing education to deepen her clinical knowledge and best support the clients she serves.
Outside of the therapy space, Sarah enjoys reading fantasy, creative outlets, lifelong learning, and spending time adventuring with her children. She values balance, connection, humor, and creating meaningful experiences both personally and professionally.
